Mr. Pietro Bartolo is the doctor of the Italian island of Lampedusa, the European territory closest to Libya, which has become a prime transit point for migrants from Africa, the Middle East and Asia wanting to enter Europe.
Mr Bartolo has published a book, “Lampedusa Gateway to Europe”, which is the essential testimony of his work for twenty-five years on the front line of perhaps the largest mass migration in human history.
While he continues with his profession in Lampedusa, he has decided to embark into a campaign to raise awareness on immigration which promotes acceptance and integration of migrants. That is taking him around Italy and Europe, in schools, universities, no profit organizations and public meetings. His testimony is also part of a Italian documentary, “ Fire at sea” , which was awarded with the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.
The RBKC Refugees Welcome Committee, in partnership with local charity Migrants Organise, invites you for an evening of powerful testimony, encouraging us to take action in our communities. Fundraising Event at the Mosaic Room in Earl’s Court on 30th November 2018 from 6.30PM-9PM.

This Saturday 3 November 2018 is a Labour Party “National Day of Action” and we would be delighted for you to join us.
We will be holding a street stall in Earl’s Court, our most marginal ward, from 10am until lunchtime where we will be talking to local residents and distributing leaflets.
We are meeting outside Earl’s Court tube station (Earl’s Court Road entrance) at 10am and erecting the stall nearby.
We were only 100 votes off winning Earl’s Court in the local elections this year so a continuous Labour presence is vital. We hope you can come and support our “shadow councillors” Bruno de Florence and Sam Batra in the ward.
