A Message From Emma Dent Coad

Comrades

Firstly I want to thank the hundreds of local and thousands of London-wide (and further afield!) supporters who helped with our General Election campaign. Without your unrelenting support, out in cold, dark, wind and rain, often travelling a long way to join us, there is no way we would have got within a mere 150 votes of regaining Kensington.

Let’s never forget – Kensington is still a marginal constituency. You did that.

As many of you know, it was a particular struggle for me as I was diagnosed with breast cancer just as the short campaign began, and was operated on three days before polling day. It is a testament to my closest colleagues who knew about my illness, and the extraordinary work they did to fill in when I was unable to campaign, that it made little or no difference to the result! It is frankly impossible to thank them enough.

After our Christmas and New Year break, we are back to work refreshed, and not so much disheartened as energised by the huge task ahead of us. The GLA/Mayoral elections are almost upon us and we must return Sadiq Khan with a resounding majority.

While we are planning that campaign, there is much work to be done in our temporary Campaign Office, which we hope to hang onto until the end of January. Please contact us if you are equipped for the dull tecchie jobs of entering Contact Creator or the Marked Register. The data we have gleaned over this campaign is invaluable.

Please give whatever you can, as a one-off or monthly direct debit, to Kensington Labour Campaign Fund: account no 36003962, sort code 23-05-80. You will be reminded regularly!

Thank you all again for helping with our extraordinary campaign in extraordinary times.

in solidarity
